ABOUT THE MAKER
Maruyoshi Kosaka | 丸嘉小坂漆器店 | Shiojiri, Nagano Prefecture
Founded around 70 years ago in Kiso-Hirasawa — a small town along the historic Nakasendo route surrounded by deep forests — Maruyoshi-Kosaka has dedicated itself to the craft of lacquerware while continuing to embrace new challenges.
In their small workshop, artisans work with sincerity and care, shaped by the clean air, changing seasons, and natural environment of the Kiso lacquerware region. While preserving traditional techniques and passing them to future generations, they continue to create pieces designed to live naturally in contemporary everyday life.
