This matcha is a set specifically designed for ’野点’ Nodate or outdoor tea gatherings in Japan. It is the perfect size for use both when travelling and at home.

Nodate matcha is often enjoyed in the beautiful natural surroundings of Japan, especially during spring and autumn when the picturesque views of cherry blossoms and autumn leaves enhance the experience. Sitting together for tea creates a serene and harmonious moment, allowing the mind to find peace and temporarily escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life.

Pair it with the Small Whisk Stand to keep your Nodate Tea Whisk in good condition!

What is Chasen?
Chasen is a tea whisk, one of the tea utensils used in the tea ceremony to make matcha (powdered green tea). Chasen has many prongs which enable you to whisk a bowl of smooth and frothy matcha into a tea bowl. Most of the chasen is made of bamboo, but the type and colour of bamboo used differs depending on the school.

Tips for using Chasen
・When using the tea whisk, soak it in hot water to moisten it thoroughly. After use, rinse with water and dry well. The box is not for storage.
・The tip of the tea whisk is easily broken and tea powder may get caught in between the prongs.
・If the tip of the tea whisk is curled, run it through the tea whisk with hot water to make it more flexible and easier to use.
・The tea whisk is a consumable item. If the whisk cracks, grows mold or the tip becomes worn out, it's time to buy a new one.

ABOUT THE MAKER

Simply Native Original | Sourced Across Japan

Simply Native works directly with tea producers and artisans to create and curate pieces that sit outside mass production — from small-batch teas and matcha to ceramics developed exclusively for us.

Founder Yukino, trained in the Urasenke school of tea, spent over four years developing our first ceremonial blend. Grounded in the art of blending, it is designed for depth, balance, and clarity, equally suited to drinking straight or as a latte.

Each tea and object is shaped through collaboration with artisans in Japan. Our collection evolves through seasonal releases, with limited works produced in close partnership with makers. Nothing is incidental, each piece reflects material, timing, and long-term relationships.
