'Monyou' Egg Shell Cup | Yamaheigama
The 'Egg Shell' series, crafted using a unique technique and special clay with high translucency, features porcelain pieces as delicate as eggshells, boasting a distinctive whiteness. This eye-catching masterpiece is fired at a high temperature of 1300°C for 13 hours, resulting in drinking cups less than 1 mm thick that are resistant to breakage.
'Monyou' is pattern or design inspired by nature, animals, or cultural symbols, which are often found in traditional Japanese crafts, textiles, and architecture. The intricate three-dimensional texture creates exquisite shadows, providing enjoyment both visually and textually. Each piece features a different chrysanthemum pattern engraved on the base.
