Furikake is a Japanese seasoning sprinkled on plain rice to enhance its flavour and texture. The mix of ingredients provides umami, salty, sweet, and sometimes spicy flavours.
This Kyoto Furikake is made from sesame seeds, garlic, and Kyoto's speciality, Kujo onions, a traditional vegetable, soaked in ra-yu (Japanese chili oil). You will be a crunchy texture and the fragrant aroma of "kujo-negi" green onions. It's only slightly spicy, so kids can enjoy it too. Their stores offer a wide range of essential Kyoto seasonings, including Ichimi (Japanese ground red chillies) and Shichimi, as well as Kyoto dashi and Kyoto Rayu Furikake, indispensable in Kyoto's traditional cuisine.
Their flagship products, Ichimi and Shichimi Togarashi, are crafted using a meticulous stone mill method, resulting in an exceptionally fine texture that blends seamlessly with any dish. The chillies, sansho pepper, yuzu, and sesame seeds used in our products are all sourced from contracted farmers across Japan, ensuring they use only the finest, flavourful ingredients.
