Wakaki is a matcha with a short finish, pointed astringency, and just a hint of sweetness. This matcha’s character leaves the mouth feeling refreshed.

Wakaki has a refreshing character and ranks among our light blends. Prepared as Usucha, this tea a good choice for people who enjoy matcha with a short aftertaste, soft fragrance, noticeable astringency, and a hint of sweetness. Its astringency gives matcha lattes a little bite and a crisp character. It also works well for baked goods given its nice green colour.

Artisan
Established in 1717, Ippodo Tea has a rich history of crafting premium teas. Originally named Omiya, the shop was renamed in 1846 by Prince Yamashina, who wanted to preserve its tradition of offering high-quality tea. Despite being destroyed by fire in 1864, Ippodo Tea rebuilt at its current location and transitioned from exporting tea to becoming a renowned retail shop. Ippodo Tea's tea, known as "Kyomeicha," is celebrated for its gentle aroma, refined sweetness, and mellow taste. Cultivated in the Kizugawa and Ujigawa river systems using the traditional "Uji method," their tea are carefully selected and blended to ensure consistent flavour. Visitors can also experience tea at Ippodo Tea’s tearoom, Kaboku, and learn the art of brewing through their classes.
