Bespoke kigata mould for 空庵 Kuan

Simply Native is pleased to announce the completion of bespoke kigata mould for a Japanese tea house 空庵 Kuan in Newcastle.

The special wooden moulds representing Australian flowers were created over the course of more than a year with Robert Davies, founder of 空庵 kuan tea house, and associated craftsmen in Kyoto.

The wooden moulds were specially made by a long-established craftsman in Kyoto, who is renowned as one of the best in Japan. Thank you, Horiku-raido for aligning with our request.

The finished Kigata moulds are then passed on to another local confectioner in Kyoto, where they are turned into Wasanbon sweets.
