Q&A

What is the difference between Kamedani and other ceramic tiles?
Regular tiles are fired at 900-1100°C, whereas Kamedani tiles are fired at 1350°C. Due to their high firing temperature, they are extremely hard-wearing and have very little water absorption (1.15%). They are also free from naturally occurring metals such as lead, which are burnt off during firing.

Are there any specific requirements to install these tiles?
Wall tiles can be installed in the same way as regular ceramic tiles.

When used for roofing, these tiles are similar to installing Spanish tiles. You can find out more about the unique characteristics of Japanese roof tiles in our installation videos and online. Please contact us for further information.

Can I design my own decorative tile?
Yes, you can. We can help you create tiles for many special purposes from nameplates to decorative ornaments. Please let us know what you would like to see in a photo or illustration. Bespoke design is the best part of commissioning a craftsman.

Can we change the original colour?
Yes, you can customise the colour. Please note this comes with a small additional charge.
