The RAKU dining project in Canberra began with communication from trusted Sydney-based architects, Facet Studio. The goal was to find materials that would bring the owner's vision of authenticity to life for a new Japanese restaurant in Canberra. We believed ceramic tile by Kamedani, with their natural beauty shaped by the Japanese landscape, were the perfect choice to represent this concept.
The interior features Kamedani ceramic tiles throughout, from the dining area to the VIP section, hallways, and restrooms. The tiles are in Kamedani's signature color, Kimachi Natural, finished without glaze to highlight the earthy tones of the local clay.
