The name behind this sake cup - Toyo-Sasaki Glass represents a distinguished legacy in Japanese glassmaking. The modern company was formed in 2002 by the merger of two historic glass manufacturers: Toyo Glass (established in 1878) and Sasaki Glass (established in 1902).
Both predecessor companies were pioneers in Japan’s glass industry during the era of the Meiji Restoration and beyond, building reputations for outstanding quality, innovation, and craftsmanship. Toyo-Sasaki continued these traditions, combining advanced production technologies with traditional skills to become Japan’s largest glassware manufacturer.
Today, Toyo-Sasaki is known for producing both everyday and premium glassware with superior clarity, strength, and design — from tumblers and wine glasses to sake cups - blending functional excellence with the understated elegance of Japanese aesthetics.
