This design is inspired by the plants of Japan’s four distinct seasons—spring, summer, autumn, and winter. By using slip clay (decorative clay), it features an earthy texture that highlights each seasonal motif. The raised patterns create a sense of depth and elegance, giving the piece a refined, luxurious feel.
In Japan, these are often used as small side plates (mamezara), but they also work beautifully as incense plates when paired with an incense holder.
