Each piece is individually carved, numbered and shaped entirely by hand by Nakahara Keiho-san in his small family workshop in Japan. Because every carving is made slowly and intentionally, no two are ever the same - each one is numbered and carries its own character, grain, and the natural camphor fragrance of Kusunoki wood.

ABOUT THE MAKER
Nakahara Keiho Atelier | 中原恵峰工房 | Kashima City, Saga Prefecture
Rooted in the rich woodcarving traditions of Saga, Nakahara Keiho 中原恵峰works primarily with fragrant camphor wood (kusunoki), a material long valued in Japan for its strength, beauty and natural aroma.
Each piece is hand-carved, allowing the character of the wood to guide the final form. The workshop is especially known for crafting traditional furyū masks (浮立面) used in regional festivals, alongside decorative dolls, samurai helmets, confectionery moulds and finely detailed wooden figures. The gentle scent of camphor - naturally released during carving - is an essential part of the atelier experience, reflecting a deep respect for the material itself.
Blending regional heritage with meticulous craftsmanship, Nakahara Keiho Atelier preserves local carving traditions while creating works that carry warmth, presence and a quiet connection to nature.
