Eggshell cups | Yamaheigama
1 mm thick - the ultimate Arita porcelain for delicate drinking.
Yamaheigama 'やま平釜' has succeeded in reproducing this eggshell technique by improving the translucent clay and using a unique technique. By firing the clay, which contains a large amount of glassy material, without glaze, a delicate vessel less than 1 mm thick was created.
Light and strong
The Eggshell series is fired to a high temperature of 1300°C for 13 hours.
The delicate drinking cups are less than 1 mm thick and the porcelain is also resistant to breakage.
Enjoy the unique mouthfeel of the eggshell.
A special technique is used to create a sparkling look in the bowl as if you were looking up at the water's surface from the bottom of the sea.
The bubbles are carefully finished by hand, one by one.
Please note that the appearance of the bubbles may vary from piece to piece.
