Welcome the year with 雷雲のしめ飾り (Raigun Shimekazari)
Calm before the storm. Energy before the bloom.
A new year, charged with possibility. Boldly braided by hand, taking its form from a rising thundercloud—dynamic, sculptural, and quietly powerful. Twisting strands swell and move like clouds gathering energy before the rain, bringing presence to any space it inhabits.
In Japanese tradition, the thunder is sacred. It calls the rain, nourishes the rice fields, and signals growth to come. Here, the thundercloud becomes a symbol of effort in motion—of persistence, learning, and intention slowly building toward something meaningful.
Each rope is braided with a wish that your own efforts fall like rain, take root deeply, and return as abundance.
Shimenawa is a sacred New Year rope decoration used to mark purity, protection, and renewal. This decoration invites you to begin the year grounded yet ambitious - soft strength, clear focus, forward momentum.

Hanaya Tsutomu is guided by the philosophy of “reconstructing and expressing tradition through flowers and handcraft.”
Working with seasonal Japanese flowers and chabana, they create and propose interior ceremonial arrangements centered on the Five Seasonal Festivals (Gosekku): Jinitsu, Jōshi, Tango, Tanabata, and Chōyō.
Their works are provided to private individuals as well as to traditional restaurants, temples, and shrines. Please enjoy using them in harmony with the seasons and the gentle transitions of everyday life.
