Since 1949, Hokuyo Glass has been crafting floating glass buoys for the fishing industry in Tsugaru, Aomori Prefecture. As plastic replaced glass buoys, they shifted focus to creating vases and kitchenware, applying their glass-blowing expertise. From this transition, the 津軽びいどろ ‘Tsugaru Vidro’ collection was born.
The craftsmen developed their own coloured glass-blowing techniques, with a dedication to improving their skills. Each piece in the Tsugaru Vidro collection embodies the essence of the changing seasons, the warmth of handmade art, and the enduring legacy of Tsugaru craftsmanship.
