Dobin is a ceramic container traditionally used for brewing and serving tea. Its origins trace back to the 1880s, evolving alongside Japan’s ekiben (train station bento) culture. The first known use was at Shizuoka Station in 1889, where Shizuoka tea was served in a Shigaraki-ware Dobin tea pot—quickly becoming popular among travellers.

Unlike the typical household kyusu, these jars were designed with a larger capacity to brew and serve generous amounts of tea at once, making them perfect for gatherings or a nostalgic tea experience.
They’re also ideal for serving Ochazuke (rice with green tea)—a comforting and beloved Japanese dish.

For a beautiful and balanced tea setting, we recommend pairing this jar with an Asemi Co. Hasamiyaki cup (White and Indigo)
