We’re excited to introduce matcha from Nakamura Chaho ’中村茶舗’, a historic tea house in Matsue, Shimane, founded in 1884. Thanks to a special connection—Yukino’s friend is the daughter of the next-generation owner—we’re now able to share their matcha through Simply Native.
Though Matsue isn’t widely known as a matcha region, it has a rich tea culture. In the Edo period, Lord Fumai of the Matsudaira family founded the Fumai-ryu school of tea, making matcha more accessible to everyday people—a tradition that lives on today.
At Nakamura Chaho, 40 stone mills grind fresh tea leaves into vibrant matcha. Their in-house factory ensures each batch is ground to perfection.
Yukino has always selected matcha based on her Urasenke training, but now she’s expanding the Simply Native collection to include matcha from personal connections—something truly unique.
With high-quality matcha becoming harder to find, we’re grateful to Nakamura Chaho for sharing their craft with us. We hope you’ll enjoy this rare taste of Matsue and the story behind it.
