Rokubei Gama | 六兵衛窯
Rokubei traces its origins back to the late Edo period (1771), when the first-generation Shimizu Rokubei established the kiln on Gojozaka in Kyoto. For over 250 years since then, each successive head of the family has produced works that reflect their individual characteristics while building upon the family tradition.
Yukino first met current generation and Hiroaki Kiyomizu in 2021, introduced by a mutual friend.
Although Hiroaki was widely expected to inherit and lead Rokubei Kiln as the ninth-generation head, his work has always reflected a warm, approachable spirit that resonates deeply with those around him. His creations embody both a strong sense of craftsmanship and a distinct personal voice. In choosing to pursue his own artistic path, Hiroaki passed the role of head of the kiln to his younger brother and began a new journey as the founder of Rokusho.
Simply Native is proud to continue supporting Hiroaki as he forges this next chapter, honouring tradition while shaping a future guided by individuality and creative expression.
