Yoko Kawada of Square + Round will teach the basics of kintsugi at the Simply Native Autumn Pop-Up! Choose from three levels of difficulty, all levels are suitable for novice or beginners. It just depends on how much you’d like to challenge yourself.
At this hands-on workshop you will learn Art Kintsugi method which follows the principal of traditional Kintsugi using alternative, more accessible materials which enable us to complete the whole process within the duration of the class. The aim is to create your original piece of art whilst contemplating and enjoying a mindful moment.

Before you sign-up for the workshop…
This workshop is limited to those over 16 years old. As we use resin base glue, workshop is not suitable if you are pregnant. Please note that finished ceramics are not suitable to use as dinnerware with food.

What you’ll take home

Your own piece of Japanese ceramic, newly put together using the Art Kintsugi method. Each participant will choose their piece of item to repair on the day — images above are for demonstration purposes only.

About kintsugi

Kintsugi is a Japanese traditional knowledge of repairing repairing broken pottery using lacquer and fine gold powder. It is also embodies wabisabi philosophy, an embracing of imperfection whilst appreciating artifact’s history and personal memories by decorating the broken lines with gold.
